Records show that  Peny curny a messuage in the Forest of Clonn, parish of Bettus was leased in 1732 to a John Bryan. The property was subsequently sold in 1867 to the Powis Estate. At that time the house was a two up, two down in poor condition and the present, much larger four bedroom house was built around about 1875. The Powis estate rented out the farm during its ownership with the principal occupants being the Lloyd family - census records showing them living here from 1871 to 1901. The farm was sold into private ownership by the Powis Estate in 1919 along with many other local properties. A copy of the sales particulars can be seen here (sales particulars link) It had a series of other owners in the period up to 1963 when it was sold to the Stevens family. The Stevens farmed it until they retired from farming,  and the farm was auctioned off in two lots. The farmhouse and just under 40 acres was sold to ourselves and the remaining 160 acres to a local farmer. (I don't recommend buying a property at auction to anyone who has a weak heart - it's a very stressful process!)

When purchased in 2003 the house was habitable but in need of modernisation. It has subsequently been substantially refurbished including a new roof, new windows, utility room addition, central heating and much more.
