Tractor Clutch Repair

Basic procedure is that once all the bolts are removed the engine is edged forward on a trolley arrangement

Close up of the trolley. Engine is gradually slid forward. It’s a very tricky operation  - to say the least, there’s a lot of heavy metal involved.

Engine just starting to split from the main gearbox frame. First tricky job is when it’s split a little more you need to get inside to disconnect part of clutch actuation mechanism.

Engine pulled forward..

Culprit decapitated bolt. The bolt is used to adjust the clutch to centralise it,

Where the bolt fitted.

When the engine bottom end was rebuilt a new clutch was fitted. Hadn’t been used  for very long afterwards when it became very dificult to change gears. Robbo came along, split the engine from the gearbox - not an easy task (see photos) and we discovered an adjusting nut had worked loose and the head of the bolt had been sheared. New bolt  fitted and clutch worked perfectly.  Identical thing was to happen a year or so later so this time when the tractor was split another new clutch was fitted.
