The old single glazed wooden windows and frames were removed and replaced with oak framed double glazed units. Additional window added to kitchen, French doors added to rear hall.

Roof

The slate tiles were removed, roof timbers treated, two chimneys removed, roof felted and battened, and the slate tiles replaced. New guttering and down-pipes were fitted.

Utility Room

A utility room and new entrance hall was added.

Plumbing and Heating

The old part central heating system heated by the Stanley cooker range was replaced with a full hot water/CH system heated by oil-fired boiler. New header tanks , hot water tank and all hot and cold water pipework replaced. New power shower system etc.

Electrics

Original electrics were in very poor condition, house completely rewired.

Chimney breast removed to provide more space and new window openings to give more light. Slate floor repaired and restored including replacement flags, ceiling joists and doors stripped, AGA and new kitchen units fitted.

Downstairs- Structural

Remove wall between old pantry and hall, form new door into dining room, seal up original doorway. Convert existing window into French windows

Upstairs - Structural

Chimney breast removed from main bedroom, various rooms reshaped with walls and doors repositioned. All upstairs floorboards taken out and replaced with flooring grade chipboard.

Mess, what mess?

Of course, when you're refurbishing, there's always a bit of cleaning up afterwards

Tidying up!

Various ancient garden sheds, pig-styes, breeze-block walls were knocked down, transported multitudes of car and trailer loads of rubble and farm debris to the tip

Garden

A continuing work in progress! So far the main effort has gone into tidying up (see above) and laying a lawn in the front part of the back garden. More recently a pond was constructed (see below).

The Terrace

Or patio as I believe they are known in other parts of the country! .

Pond

The latest project (summer/autumn 2007). The garden needed a feature and one day we spotted just the idea in the Daily Telegraph.
